About Dr Skilling

Dr. Heather Skilling graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1982, after completing her undergraduate degree at the University of New Hampshire.

Dr. Skilling’s first veterinary position was as a dairy veterinarian with Enosburg Veterinary Services in Enosburg, Vermont. In 1984, after becoming Heather Donlon, she founded The Donlon Veterinary Clinic on The Watertower Road in Enosburg. She owned and operated her clinic for fourteen years, selling it in 1998 so that she could spend more time with her young children, Seth and Kate.

When her children were older, Dr. Skilling opened a second veterinary clinic in Richford called The Clearwater Veterinary Hospital. She ran this business until she retired in 2011, but her reputation kept her phone ringing, and she soon began helping friends and long-time clients on a part-time, mobile basis. As her appointments increased, so did her business, and in early 2020, Dr. Skilling decided to launch her third veterinary business, this time as a mobile vet. Her timing couldn’t have been better as COVID-19 made it difficult for many of her clients to get to a brick-and-mortar veterinary location, and the new protocols of not allowing owners to enter with their pets made nervous animals that much more agitated.

One thing that hasn’t changed for Dr. Skilling in the last forty years of her career is her unique ability to work with animals. No one knows better than veterinarians that animals can’t speak for themselves. Not only does Dr. Skilling bring four decades of experience to her patients, she brings a level of intuition, caring, and understanding that allows her to make the right diagnosis and meet your animal’s needs. It is particularly hard to discern when an animal is suffering, and Dr. Skilling’s many years of experience have given her an uncommon insight into animal behavior that often escapes even the most caring of pet owners.

If you’re seeking a more compassionate, comfortable veterinary experience for your pet, it’s time to schedule an appointment with Dr. Heather Skilling, Mobile Vet.

Dr. Heather Skilling has been one of my veterinarians for the better part of 35 years. I am a pet owner and Bernese Mountain Dog breeder, and over the years Dr. Heather has tackled many problems for me that most veterinarians would not touch, such as bloat, c-sections, eye surgeries, just to name a few problems. She's extremely competent and has always been able to diagnose and treat even the most complex of issues, usually even better than a specialist. We are all very lucky to have Dr. Heather practicing again!
